On Monday, Apple launched the updates for watchOS 11.5 and macOS 15.5, both of which come with some new features. One significant enhancement allows users to easily buy content via their Apple Watch while using the Apple TV app on external devices like Android TVs or smartphones. Additionally, the parental controls have seen improvements in the macOS 15.5 update. In the upcoming month, during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025), Apple will reveal the next iterations of its operating systems. Users who upgrade to watchOS 11.5 will notice a new Pride Harmony wallpaper and enhanced support for the always-on display mode on the latest Apple Watch model. This feature enables the seconds hand to continue moving even in dimmed always-on mode when using this watch face on the Apple Watch Series 10. Other watch faces that take advantage of this functionality on the new model include Activity Digital, Flux, Reflections, and Unity Rhythm.
The recent update introduces a button enabling purchases with the Apple Watch while accessing the Apple TV app on third-party devices like Android TVs or smartphones. Apple has also resolved an issue that prevented notifications from appearing on a connected iPhone when the Apple Watch battery reached full charge. On the other hand, the macOS 15.5 update introduces one key feature that parents will notice when they set up parental controls on their children's devices. Once macOS 15.5 is implemented, parents will receive a notification every time a Screen Time passcode, which regulates settings, is input on their child's phone. This serves as a safeguard, notifying parents if a child successfully guesses the passcode used to manage these restrictions. Apple is anticipated to announce watchOS 12 and macOS 16 next month, along with iOS 19 and iPadOS 19. These updates are expected to showcase new designs and enhanced support for additional artificial intelligence features known as Apple Intelligence on compatible devices. More details will likely be revealed during Apple's next OS update presentation on June 9 at WWDC 2025.
