Indian Americans Celebrate the 71st Republic Day in Dallas

The celebrations for the 71st Republic day of India has been organized by Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas (MGMNT) in Dallas at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial which is said to be the largest Gandhi Memorial in the United States.

The celebrations have been successful with more than 400 Indian Americans including several children participating in the celebrations.

The gathering has been welcomed by the Secretary of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas, Mr. Rao Kalvala where in he has introduced the MGMNT Board and has expressed his joy over seeing several members of the community being a part of the Republic Day celebrations of India at the Gandhi memorial.

The Indian flag has been hoisted by Dr. Prasad Thotakura who is the chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas and the national anthems of both India and the United States have been recited by the audience who have taken part in celebrating the 71st Republic Day of India.

The Chairman has told the crowd the importance of the Republic Day as it being the day when the Constitution of India has come into effect 70 years ago on 26th of January in the year 1950.

Dr. Prasad Thotakura has also said as he addressed the Republic status that has been attained by India as the second milestone with the first being attaining the independence. He added saying that the ethnic and the equality among the citizens of India irrespective of the region, religion or community has been achieved with the adoption and framing of the Constitution. He mention Dr. B. R. Ambedkar being the Father of the Constitution under whose leadership the other leaders which include Jawarharlal Nehru, Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Shyam Prasad Mukherjee among the others have worked hard in bring the best Constitution, for about three years.

He addressed the youth of India being more than half of the population in India and also said that no other country in the world has more than the youth which is present in India. He said that the youth of India is coming forwarding for attaining a positive change in the country.

The Board of Director of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas, Mr. Abhijit Railkar has remembered the peace struggle that has been made by Mahatma Gandhi in order to attain the independence, as he has conveyed his Republic Day greeting to the community.

Mr. Shailesh Shah, who is also a board member of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas has thanked the people for participating in the gathering and making the celebrations successful. He has also invited everyone to gather at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas again on the 30th of January in order to observe the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who is the Father of the Nation and to pay floral tribute.
