Single-use bags to be history after Sunday

Dwaine Caraway, the council member, this week made a proposal to rid the city of the single-use bags one and for all with a ordinance to be passed in the city. He wanted all the single-use bags to be discarded and banned so that the litter would be freed of this contaminant that is the major clogs in the creeks and also against the environment in several other ways.

This ban will include all the paper and plastic bags that are reserved for single-use, which is actually what Caraway targets with his proposal. Starting Sunday, Keep Oak Cliff Beautiful, an organization that is a subsidiary of the Keep Dallas Beautiful will start pushing for the ban. At Earth Day booth, the group will attract people to sign a petition where in they pledge against the use of the bags.

The number of the plastic bags that form the litter these days is way too high. Keeping the creeks, roadsides and other places clean will get easier once the ban is in place. At the booth, the volunteers of the Oak Cliff subsidiary, awareness, education and beautification would be the theme.

The initiative will begin on Oak Cliff Earth Day on Sunday at noon to 5pm.
