Indo-American Scholar Fighting For One Of The Two Seats For Selectman In Shrewsbury

An Indian American scholar, Dr Jonjy Ananth, MD is vying and battling for one of the two seats in a four way contested race for Selectman in Shrewsbury, where majority of its population is covered by the Indian Americans there.

Even though there are currently two seats available, four candidatures has been announced till now from Shewsbury. The salient election is scheduled to be held on May 07th from 7:00 AM till 08:00 PM. The Office of the Selectman in Shrewsbury is responsible for managing a town budget amounting to over $150 million. It is also responsible for overseeing all the town departments including fire, police, utilities, roads and the parks. The Selectmen is also responsible for assigning and appointing members of over 20 town boards and commissions.

If selected, Dr Ananth is believed to be the very first Indian American Selectmen in the town of Shrewsbury.

Addressing the candidature, Dr Ananth said under their “For the people” campaign, they are going to work on improving the state of proving clean water, smaller class sizes, inhibition to bullying, prevention of usage of school drugs and vapes, lower taxes, safer crossings and less of the over development in Shrewsbury.

Additionally, according to Dr Ananth, the campaign has also successfully received an offer for a corporate sponsorship for the development of a dog park in Shrewsbury which they are going to work along with the administration to get it done for the residents there.

The Indian American candidate further clarified that his campaign is also advocating for the problems that several Indian Americans face in their day to day lives like lack of vegetarian meal options for school lunches or even the presence of a community centre around.

Dr Ananth is currently the state-wise Commissioner of the Asian American Commission for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Additionally, he is also the principal and founder of the Boston Mantra LLC which is a healthcare start-up currently in its incubator phase.

Dr Ananth has priorly been elected as the President and Chairman of the Board for WCUW Inc. Worcester, MA. He conducts a talk show which brings together community participation forum interviews with physicians, CEOs, lawyers and even a number of community leaders.

This Indo-American scholar and achiever was recently awarded with the Senate citation in recognition of his exemplary voluntary services to the Indian American community by Senate President Karen Spilka and Senator Michael Moore.

In addition to this all, Dr Jonjy Ananth is also the Justice of the Peace, elected town member for Shrewsbury, Deputy Sheriff for the Worcester County as well as the Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has been invited by a number of organizations as Chief Guest to address the crowd as the keynote speaker.
