A Dallas family of seven who was supposed to be on a duck boat that sank in Missouri on Thursday evening, killing 17 people, were moved to another boat because of limited space, The Kansas City Star reported.

The kin - Paul and Gina Lemus and their five children's place was taken by a woman with their three children.

A propeller issue delayed-action their trip and the Lemuses boat went into Table Rock Lake about 6:30 p.m. - around the similar time a terrible thunderstorm cautionary was issued for the region.

As the violent storm hit and the water grew choppy, Paul Lemus filmed as the boat battled with the waves.

"This is not good," someone says as water splashes against plastic curtains that had dropped over the sides of the boat.

Farther out on the lake was the boat the Lemuses were expected to be on.

Gina Lemus told The Star that their captain was unable to make contact with the other vessel. All they, and the other passengers, could do was watch.

Their boat made it back to shore after about 15 minutes - "an eternity," she told the paper.

"We would have been on that boat, but our family size was bigger," she said. "That could have been us."
