Dallas:
The National Rifle Association on Friday asked its members attending a four-day annual meet at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center for the organization to boycott a nearby restaurant that would be donating a part of its takings to help in ending gun hostility.

“Thanks for visiting Ellen’s! A portion of this week’s proceeds will be donated to organizations dedicated to implementing reasonable and effective gun regulations. Welcome to Dallas!.” said restaurant, on the bottom of its receipts.

The post on Twitter inundated with the comments of many in protest of restaurant and some in support for restaurant. “I will be sure to visit when in Dallas. Thanks for the tip,” a tweet says.

On Friday, the restaurant reacted with a lengthy Facebook post saying, “What a day this has been!” - insisting that Ellen’s was not in favor of gun control. “The opposite is true,” the statement said. “We support the Constitution, including the 2nd Amendment, 100%. And like the NRA, we also support finding solutions to the senseless killings that happen much too frequently. We believe those two things are completely compatible.”

Over the weekend, the restaurant’s Facebook page was flooded with negative comment and one star rating.

Subsequently, the restaurant modified its receipt to clarify its position, with the new one saying, “dedicated to implementing reasonable and effective gun regulations that protect citizens’ 2nd Amendment rights and also help reduce needless gun violence.”
