Texas, College Shooter committed suicide after killing one

According to reports, an armed man who opened fire on a college campus in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas on Wednesday, killed one victim and committed suicide. The incident occurred two days after a deadly stabbing at another college campus in the state.

A witness said that the suspect was armed with a handgun who opened fire at North Lake College. The authorities swarmed the campus the campus in search of the suspect as school was lockdown.

The Irving police Department later stated that there appeared “to be no continuing threat,” adding that officers were still searching the campus to ensure everyone were safe.

"We have what appears to be one victim deceased (and) the shooter has committed suicide," the department added.

The identities of the suspect and the victim have not been released yet. Police spokesperson James McLellan said that it was too early whether the two people knew each other.

No other person was wounded in the shooting that occurred at one of the main campus building, McLellan said.

After police confirmed that the suspect was dead, college officials announced the school would be closed for the rest of the day.

A video footage of the scene showed that students filing out of the school building as police officers evacuated the campus. A few video clips that were recorded earlier showed that students in groups running for safety and numerous police vehicles on campus.

Earlier this week, a man enrolled at the University of Texas, gone rage went on a stabbing spree with a large knife at Austin campus, which is about 200 miles south of Irving, killing one student and wounding three others, police said.
