Murder Suspects Arrested in Dallas

Two murder suspects were arrested overnight by police on 11th January after leading, to a chase and abandoning their vehicle near a creek off Stemmons Freeway in northwest Dallas.

Police officers started to chase the suspects from Irving and ended in Dallas, when both the suspects abonded their car near the freeway around 12:45 a.m., and fled on foot.

Dallas police told to the local news that undercover officers and DPS troopers were conducting surveillance on a suspect in a recent Balch Springs killing, when the suspect realized that he was being watched and fled.

Law enforcement officers from the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety and two police helicopters converged on the site off Stemmons.

Law enforcement officers captured the suspects near the 9700 block of Harry Hines Boulevard.

One of the suspects is Joe Gutierrez a 26 year old man, he is the primary suspect in the murder of Edgar Avila 25 a year old, in Balch Springs, police spokesperson Pedro Gonzalez said. The second suspect was not identified.

Gutierrez was locked up in Dallas County Jail after facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder, Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez also said the other suspect who was arrested was involved in the murder of Robert Eames on 26 December 2016, who was a new Balch Springs father and was shot several times, when he went to check his car alarm in the middle of the night. The suspect is not being identified because he is a juvenile.

Eames was killed five days after his wife gave birth to their son.
