India clinches series, win 4th test by an innings and 36 runs

India won the series against England by an innings and 36 runs after off-spinner  R. Ashwin took 12 wickets in the fourth Test against the visitors. It took them eight overs on Day 5 to clinch the fourth Test in Mumbai.  

Virat Kohli also earned the title of being the first Indian batsman to hit three double-centuries in a single year, with his 235. Jayant Yadav got his maiden Test his third game after he received the India cap.

England lost their final five wickets at the addition of just 15 runs and thus recorded their second Test defeat by an innings after posting 400 or more in the first innings.

Beginning its second innings 231 runs in deficit, England went to stumps six wickets down and needing 49 runs to make India bat again.

Scores: India 631 (Kohli 235, Vijay 136, Jayant 104; Rashid 4/192) beat England 400 and 195 (Root 77, Bairstow 51; Ashwin 6/55) by an innings and 36 runs
