Get over the Golden Globes - it's time for Hollywood's biggest awards show, the Oscars to take the front stage now!

Awards season kicks into full swing with the 86th Annual Oscar nominations, which seems to take a page from comic book movies this time.

This year's Oscars, to be themed after superheroes, real-life heroes and animated heroes, announced its nominations keeping in tune with its heroic theme - “The Oscars Celebrates Movie Heroes”.

“Gravity” — Alfonso Cuaron’s space thriller starring Sandra Bullock — cinched 10 nominations including best picture, best director, best actress, best cinematography, best film editing, best original score, best production design, best sound editing, best sound mixing and best visual effects.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” received three nominations, “The Lone Ranger” received two and“Iron Man 3″ and “Star Trek Into Darkness” received visual effects nominations.

Animated feature film nominees include “The Croods,” “Despicable Me 2,” “Ernest & Celestine,” “Frozen” and Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Wind Rises.”
